How You Can Help

KCACC Exposed is dedicated to informing the people of King County about the ongoing deplorable conditions in King County Animal Care & Control shelters, and the county’s continued failure to adequately provide animal control services or competently perform animal cruelty investigations.

It is our belief that an informed public is our best weapon in combating these problems and demanding that our elected representatives enact immediate and permanent solution. Please, tell King County’s elected officials that you care about how the county treats its animals. Join us, and help to give voice to the voiceless.

  1. Join Us. Sign up to signal your support for our effort, and to receive regular emails from us about news, scheduled events, and progress made in ending the taxpayer-funded suffering of animals in King County.
  2. Spread The Word. Tell at least 10 friends, family members, and/or co-workers about our campaign. Ask them to visit our website, inform themselves on this issue, and judge for themselves. Print out copies of our flyers (Flyer 1 / Flyer 2) and take them everywhere you go – especially to pet-related events and businesses.
  3. Make Your Voice Heard. Write, call, or email your elected King County representatives to tell them that you care about how King County treats animals, and will no longer tolerate the deplorable conditions at King County Animal Care & Control. Be polite and respectful, but let them know that you will remember their actions on this issue when the next election rolls around.
    1. Tell King County Executive Dow Constantine that you expect him to make good on his promise to shut down the KCACC shelters, and find a humane, community-based alternative that will serve both the animals and the taxpayers. He can be emailed at kcexec@kingcounty.gov, phoned at 206-296-4040, or written to at the King County Executive’s Office, King County Chinook Building, 401 5th Ave., Suite 800, Seattle, WA 98104701.
    2. Thank members of the King County Council, both Democrat and Republican, for helping to bring the deplorable state of KCACC to the public’s attention, and for their statements in support of the animals. Tell them that you expect them to hold firm to their commitment to shut down KCACC for good and replace it with a humane, community-based alternative. Please visit http://www.kingcounty.gov/council/councilmembers.aspx for information about how to contact the councilmember who represents your district.

  4. Adopt a KCACC Animal. In the firestorm of political controversy, we should never forget that the real victims here are the animals. While we work for long-term change, hundreds of cats and dogs are still enduring inhumane conditions at King County Animal Care & Control shelters. Now is the perfect time to add a new dog or cat to your family. Adopt an animal from KCACC, and you will change at least one life forever.
